"Blue Julie" underwent a thorough annual
inspection/restoration in 1995 - just 10 months after being acquired
by her current owner. The result was a beautiful transformation from
an ugly duckling with a runout engine to a nearly new beauty that
still has people calling her "the best looking Cherokee on the
field." Considering she's based at the busiest GA airport in
the world (VNY), that's quite a compliment.
But her beauty is more that skin-deep. She was gone through
spinner-to-tail beginning with a firewall-forward overhaul, continuing
through a replacement of all gyros, and nearly all wearable control
items. Once pronounced fit, she was given the full beauty treatment
with a strip-and-paint, fresh glass and a full set of new threads
inside.
In the past five years the few remaining items that made sense to
replace have been. Now she's about as fit and maintenance-free as
any 32-year old could ever hope to be. She's looking for a new
home with an appreciative pilot so that her current caretaker can
step up the ladder to something more substantial (and likely more
complicated, troublesome and finicky).
